Released from Colony No. 27 (Moldovanovka) on 17 September 2022 after serving sentence.
Temporarily left Kyrgyzstan on 23 October 2022, relocated to Vilnius, Lithuania and later to the United Arab Emirates.
In 2025, abducted in the United Arab Emirates and handed over to Kyrgyz authorities; currently in pre-trial detention in Kyrgyzstan.
1. 2021 Case:
Art. 310 (2)(1) – Public calls for the violent seizure of power.
Art. 192 (2) – Vote buying.
2. 2022 Case (Kempir-Abad):
Art. 36-278 – Preparation for organizing mass unrest and Article 327 – calls for the violent seizure of power.
3. 2025 Case (renewed detention):
Facing similar politically motivated charges related to Kempir-Abad protests.
1. 2021–2022: Convicted under Art. 310 and 192; sentenced to 1.5 years, served full term. He was charged because of his critcizm of the Government’s decisions.
2. 2022–2024: His case was linked to the Kempir-Abad protests, but separated from the main trial due to his departure abroad. Kurenov was a part of the Kempir Abad Committee.
3. 2025: Detained again after abduction from the UAE. Case merged with continuing Kempir-Abad proceedings; trial pending. Tilekmat Kurenov is a Kyrgyz activist known for his outspoken stance on sovereignty, democracy, and resource protection. Previously convicted on politically motivated charges in 2021 and again targeted during the 2022 “Kempir-Abad case,” he fled Kyrgyzstan in fear of persecution. In 2025, he was abducted from the UAE and forcibly returned to Kyrgyzstan, where he is now held in detention. His case illustrates the cross-border reach of political persecution and the authorities’ determination to silence dissent.

As of 2025, placed in SIZO-1 (Bishkek) following forced return. Reports indicate degrading treatment, with torture used during detention and interrogation before his court appearance.
