Vahdat’s Correctional Colony No. 3/2, Kirpichny
In early 2019, Karimov underwent hernia surgery. In March of that year, he was placed in a disciplinary isolation cell (solitary confinement) for refusing to make a recorded statement denouncing the IRPT. Karimov was killed during the May 2019 riot in Vahdat’s Correctional Colony No. 3/2. According to the official account of the Tajik authorities, the riot erupted at 20:30 on 19 May and was allegedly initiated by thirty inmates affiliated with the banned “Islamic State.” The rioters, armed with knives and sharp objects, reportedly took three officers hostage (later killing them) and then murdered five inmates, including by beheading. Among the five inmates killed were several IRPT members, including Sattor Karimov, Said Kiyomidin Gozi, and Sheikh Temur.
