Jobir Rahmatulloi Rajab

Jobir Rahmatulloi Rajab has been an IRPT member since 2003. He has served as an IRPT Personnel and Political Training Officer, worked as an election commissioner since 2006, and served as Chairman of the IRPT Election Department since 2007. Elected to the IRPT Political Council and Presidium in 2012, he has been an active member of the organization.

Trial Details:

On June 2, 2016, Rajab, along with 13 other members of the IRP Supreme Political Council, was found guilty and sentenced to a cumulative 28 years of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony. Additionally, he received a 5-year ban from holding certain positions and working in political parties. According to the verdict, Rajab’s sentence was calculated starting from September 16, 2015.

Prison Details:

Prison No. 1 of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan, Dushanbe city. In 2021 he was transferred to the colony in Vahdat. In 2019, relatives exchanged correspondence with the colony JAS No. 3/7, located at 50, M. Mirshakar Street, Dushanbe.

Health Condition:

While in pre-trial detention at TDF No. 1 of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan, Rajab was subjected to repeated torture, insults, and pressure by the facility’s staff. While in prison he was beaten on multiple occasions, placed in solitary confinement and denied meetings with his wife. Despite his poor health condition (two strokes) he was denied food or medicine passed by his relatives. Only after his wife went on a hunger strike, she was finally granted a visit. He was also attacked while in prison. In November 2021, Rahmatullo Rajab and another convicted IRPT member, Zubaidulloi Roziq, were placed in solitary confinement for two months after writing to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
