Trial Details:

Azamat Ishenbekov was arrested for his activist poetry and involvement with the “Ait Ait Dese” media project. He was accused of encouraging mass unrest through his public speeches and writings. On 10 October 2024, the Leninsky District Court sentenced him to five years in prison. The trial was conducted in secret, and defense lawyers criticized the lack of evidence. In April 2025, he was released under a presidential pardon. During detention, he suffered significant emotional distress, particularly after being allowed only a brief visit with his dying mother shortly before her death.

Prison Details:

Azamat Ishenbekov was detained on January 16, 2024 in Bishkek and placed in a pre-trial detention center for preliminary investigation. After the court’s decision in October 2024, he was transferred to Petrovka prison.
