On September 27, 2024, the Astana court sentenced A. Syzdykov to five years’ imprisonment. Syzdykov maintains that the case was fabricated. He subsequently petitioned the court for amnesty, and on August 14 his request was granted. According to the court’s decision, his remaining sentence was reduced by one year, two months, and 17 days. Previously, in 2021, he had been sentenced to three years of restriction of liberty for participating in the activities of the banned “extremist” association DCK (Article 405 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan).
