Abdukakhor Davlatov

Davlatov Abdukahhor, Head of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Islamic Renaissance Party of Tajikistan (IRPT), is a journalist and former Editor-in-Chief of the party’s newspaper Najot as well as Director of the Information and Analytical Center Press Panorama. He serves as a member of the IRPT Political Council and its Presidium.
In the 2015 parliamentary elections, held on March 1, 2015, Davlatov stood as the IRPT candidate for the lower chamber of the Parliament of Tajikistan in constituency No. 30 (Rumi district). Local authorities reportedly obstructed his election campaign.

Trial Details:

Davlatov remained in the State Committee for National Security’s pre-trial detention facility from his arrest until sentencing. On February 9, 2016, the Supreme Court began closed proceedings against 13 IRPT leaders accused of involvement in General Nazarzoda’s alleged mutiny. The prosecutor sought a life sentence for Davlatov. On June 2, 2016, Davlatov, along with 13 other members of the IRPT Supreme Political Council, was found guilty and sentenced to 28 years of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony. Additionally, he received a 5-year ban from holding certain positions and working in political parties. His sentence was calculated starting from September 16, 2015.

Prison in Vahdat

Health Condition:

No reliable information available. During the prison riot in Vahdat on May 19, 2019, Davlatov was attacked and sustained injuries. According to the official version of the Tajik authorities, the riot was organized by inmates affiliated with the banned organization “Islamic State.”
